Best Purple Bedroom Design Ideas for Teenage Girls

Welcome to Elevate and Refine! In this blog, I will break down the most important steps to help guide you through the Best Purple Bedroom Design Ideas For Teenage Girls. The aim is to keep a youthful spirit alive while adding a touch of that grown-up feel. This guide will help steer you in the right direction!

Why Purple is the Perfect Choice for a Teen Bedroom

Whether you’re designing for yourself, a little girl, or a teenager, incorporating different shades of purple into a bedroom design is a great way to elevate a new space. It’s playful, modern, and feels like a fairy tale. Personally, I have always had a very beige colour palette and never imagined purple to look so elegant, but the deep hues of purple truly bring class to the room.

When you think of a purple bedroom, what do you envision? Since I developed a keen interest in home design, I noticed I didn’t give enough credit to certain colours. As I enjoy minimalistic décor, I love blending purple and neutrals together.

Where to Begin

Since this blog is all about the Best Purple Bedroom Design Ideas For Teenage Girls, the focal point of the entire room should be that pop of colour. I am not advising you to plan a shopping trip and purchase every purple bedroom item in sight but to focus on the little details and making the room feel alive.

Step One: Selecting Wallpaper

Starting with a feature wall is always a good idea. Once chosen, it makes the remaining process much easier to follow. Depending on your vision, you might decide on wallpaper. Perhaps you’re thinking of modern panelling or the trending lime washing? If you prefer a minimalist approach, simply painting the space is a good idea.

My preferred choice would have to be wallpaper. As I mentioned previously, I like a minimal design, and if that’s suitable for you, the world of wallpaper has a huge selection!

Step Two: Choosing a Bed Frame

Choosing a bed frame depends on a few factors: budget, space, and essentiality. I remember when I was a little girl, I had a single bed, just big enough to fit me and all my stuffed teddy bears. To be honest, I could quite happily sleep in a single bed now. But there comes a point in maturing when we move on to a more grown-up bed.

For me, I was a teen when my parents bought me a double bed, just after we moved house and I finally had lots of space! If you have the available space for a bigger bed and a gap in your budget, I’m almost positive your teen would love it.

However, it’s important to consider the life span of a bed frame. Although this blog is about designing an aesthetically pleasing purple room, is a purple bed frame going to be enjoyed as the teen reaches young adulthood? Try to think proactively and ask yourself, “Will I want to redecorate in the next few years?” If so, a purple bed frame might not be the best option, but it could still be a great addition!

Touching base on overall space, buying a bigger bed means less room to move, resulting in decreased storage. Have you heard of an Ottoman bed? the below bed is similar to mine, only in a different color. It’s a literal dream. I store so much under the foot of the bed without the appearance of utter carnage! Step Three: Dressing the Bed

If you love the feeling of fresh bedding, this might be your favorite part—it’s definitely mine! Now that we’ve started the visual process and created the base for the contrast of colors, it’s time for the fun part: adding purple!

Bedding is a great way to introduce purple hues into a new room design. Personally, I am attracted to dark purple shades, like the plum bed covers from Piglet in Bed, as shown in the image below. However, lighter shades like lilac, mauve, and thistle would also look beautiful with white bedding.

Decorative Cushions

Adding cushions is a perfect way to transform the bed into one big, luxurious cloud. You could choose cushions in a different shade of purple or, to break it up and add contrast, a neutral shade like cream or beige is a great option.

Whenever I notice an elegantly styled bed, there’s always a variety of decorative cushions, usually arranged from small to large. By doing this with your purple bedding, you can achieve that elevated, hotel room feeling every day! Below is an image of a beige cushion from Nordic Nest, currently on my wish list!

Blankets & Throws

The final touch to dressing the bed is adding a blanket or throw to create a layered and welcoming appeal. For a purple bedroom, you could stack blankets in a range of shades or opt for a larger textured throw. For example, the blanket below from Amazon would pair perfectly with the beige decorative cushion and lilac walls.

Step Four: Choosing Curtains

For this step, consider the type of curtains you prefer. Options include:

– Blackout

– Sheer

– Valance

– Layered

– Pleated

If the bedroom is a smaller space, single-panel curtains (a single curtain panel that covers the entire window) might be a good choice. Alternatively, for a larger room, you could consider panel pair curtains (two curtain panels that hang on either side of the window). A great example of this style is the curtains linked below from Graham Brown.

If you feel curtains don’t suit the room’s style, consider blinds for easy access and a contemporary style.

Step Five: Finishing Touches

This is where the purple bedroom design all comes together. All the doubts and careful choices are redeemed with a rewarding feeling. This part of the process allows you to bring the room to life by adding shelving, paintings, mirrors, wardrobes, lighting, etc.
