    2. Family Book Club – If your family enjoys reading, starting a family book club could be a wonderful tradition. While it might not be for everyone, it’s perfect for those who love getting lost in a good story. Even children can join in, either by reading age-appropriate books or having someone read to them.

3.Themed Brunch, Afternoon Tea, or Wine Pairing – One of my personal favourites—an indulgent afternoon tea at home, complete with all the comforts. Research some menu ideas, gather your ingredients, and invite friends or family for a leisurely afternoon of chatting, sipping, and nibbling.

4.Document Family Life – Recently, my mum and I watched old home videos, and it was a nostalgic experience—seeing my younger self, my grandparents, and so many cherished moments. Today, most people use their phones to capture memories, but consider investing in a dedicated device, like a camcorder, to record special moments. Start a tradition of vlogging a weekend at home—you’ll love looking back on it in the future.

5.Holistic Wellness Workshop  – A perfect activity for those who value well-being. Create a home wellness retreat where you can relax and rejuvenate. Turn off your devices, set up a calming space, and immerse yourself in a day of self-care. Dim the lights, burn someincense, sip on cucumber water, and enjoy soothing music. Pamper yourself with face masks, foot spas, and head massages. Whether it’s a solo retreat or a family spa day, it’s the perfect way to unwind.

6.Family Game Night – For families that love board / card games, hosting a luxury-themed game tournament could be a fun way to create lasting memories. Play classic board games with a twist—serve fancy snacks, wear your best loungewear, and turn it into a classy, friendly competition.

7.At-Home Wine Tasting – For adults, a luxurious at-home wine tasting can be a delightful experience. Select a few bottles of wine and pair them with fine cheeses, crackers, and fruits. Discuss the notes and flavors, and make it a learning experience.

8.Physical Activity – Honestly, this idea might not be for everyone, but when I was younger my parents exposed me and my siblings to a lot of fresh air. Looking back, it was the outdoor activities that offered the best quality time. What could you do? Go for a family hike, a bike ride, play frisbee or just get up and go explore the great outdoors!

9.Family Movie Night – Whether you have your in laws round for the night or having a cosy night in with the kids, movies are a strong contender for the entire family. Even better if it’s a classic blockbuster! Some if my all time favourites include, The Goonies, Dirty Dancing, Beauty and the beast, and Back to the future…

10.Electronic Devices FREE day – While cell phones and modern technology are a great resource to have in today’s fast-paced world. Putting devices away for a day ( for all family members ), can create a great opportunity for fun activities. Adults, Older kids & younger children are becoming glued to screens, blocking out teh world for a day might help build family connections.

11.Family Dinner – Spending time with the whole family is always better with the company of good food. This family activity could be enjoyed in a few unique ways. For example, you could research different cultures and try a brand new recipe? Maybe you want to treat everyone to dining out at a favourite restaurant? To get even more creative, ( if you are feeling brave ), you could leave it up to the children to prepare a home-cooked meal.

12.Family Vacations – Great memories are made wherever family is, so if you are thinking about booking a spontaneous trip, maybe it is a good time to play a little roulette? First grab a bowl, then ask each member of the family to write down a destination on to a piece of paper and fold it really small so nobody can see, place all the pape into the bowl and finally play a quick game of rock, paper, scisors….the winner gets to pick a paper out of the bowl and reveal the next great place for the family trip.

“Happiness is homemade, and family is the key ingredient.”

13.Camping trip – This one might depend on a few external factors , such activities might require good weather, or the basic equipment. However, if you have a graden and a tent? Why not get it set up! The best part is, if anyone want’s to go back inside they absolutely can! Alternatively, you can turn this into the full camping experience and go wild camping, light a fire and indulge in toasted marshmallows to deepen the strong family bond.

14.Volunteer work – Not only does this idea give back to others, it demonstrates to the whole family how a simple act of kindness can make a big impact. What to do? Go to a local park, beach or neighborhood and spend an afternoon picking up litter. Another great idea you could consider is fundraising for a good cause, host a bakesale or a charity event for an important cause.

15.Blanket Forts – This is one of the classic family bonding activities for the little kids! All that’s required is a living room and ALOT of blankets, bonus points if you have sleeping bags! It’s a fun option for rainy days and will 100% go down in the family memories!

16.Family Tree – This one might be a challenge and encourage some family meetings, however it is a great way to get everyone together and share experiences from each list of family. It is an excellent way to teach children of all ages their cultrual blood line and family dynamics.

“A family that laughs together, stays together.”

17.Luxury Picnic Experience – This one is on my to-do list! If you live in england ( like me ), you might have to wait for summer for this one… Start by picking a pretty location such as a spot lakeside, a beach at sunset, or even your garden if you don’t feel like spending a day out. Next, set the scene with a big blanket and some sitting cushions, then dig in to some quality food -cheeses, fresh fruit, charcuterie, and sparkling drinks. This idea creates a peaceful enviroment, perfect for building an emotional connection.

The True Luxury: Cherishing Time with Loved Ones

These ideas are luxurious in ways that go beyond material wealth—because what could be more precious than time spent with the people you love? The sound of your family’s laughter, sharing stories, and making memories together are true luxuries that not everyone gets to experience. It’s easy to take these moments for granted when life feels routine, but they are the moments we should cherish the most.

Not everyone has this blanket of security in their life, which makes it all the more important to treasure what you have. Whether it’s your children, partner, or parents, these experiences offer opportunities to deepen your bonds. Teaching your children the value of time spent together, or sharing a new experience with your partner, are lessons that will be passed on for generations. These weekends aren’t just about relaxation—they’re about creating lasting traditions and instilling values that your family will carry forward.

It’s easy to get caught up in the rush of life, but taking a step back to appreciate those closest to you is the ultimate luxury. Whether it’s a quiet afternoon tea, a spontaneous family cooking class, or a simple evening spent watching old home videos, these are the moments that build a foundation of love and connection.
